Case Study 1 - Cyclist Injury Accident
The claimant was a male cyclist in his 50’s who was significantly injured in NSW when a motor vehicle unexpectedly and illegally cut across his path resulting in a significant collision. He sustained numerous spinal fractures and other significant orthopaedic injuries including a substantial injury to one of his knees. The injuries resulted in the need for extensive treatment and rehabilitation over a number of years and consequentially impacted his ability to continue working as an engineer. Ana ensured all treatment disputes were managed swiftly and also handled a number of liability issues that were potentially compromising to the damages claim. The claim ultimately resolved for $1,300,000.
Case Study 2 - Motor Accident Injury
The claimant was a female in her 50’s travelling in a motor vehicle in the NSW alpine region in 2020 when a semi-trailer lost control and tipped onto her vehicle. She sustained significant physical injuries to her neck, aorta and ankle as well as a serious psychiatric injury which prevented her from returning to her employment in hospitality in her pre-injury capacity. The claim was complicated by the fact that the semi-trailer was insured with an interstate insurer which resulted in a number of delays in the compensation process. Ana worked tirelessly to facilitate a prompt resolution of the compensation claim in the circumstances with the interstate insurer and obtained a settlement payout of $950,000.
Case Study 2 - Workplace Fatality
A worker in his 60’s died as a result of being crushed by a forklift in a NSW workplace in 2021. The exact circumstances of the accident were initially unknown requiring extensive investigations. Ana proactively worked with the insurer and their legal representatives to complete the investigations in a timely manner and to secure a liability admission. She then successfully obtained a death benefit lump sum payout of $849,300 for the deceased worker’s dependent spouse within 6 months of the date of the accident, which included legal proceedings in the NSW Personal Injury Commission.
