Alex Bourne began his career working in Northern Regional NSW, before migrating south to Sydney where he has practised as a Sydney Family Lawyer ever since. He has taken an active interest in Law since beginning work experience at local law firms. This keen interest continued through university and is evident now where he is one of the leading practitioners working in Family Law in Sydney in Australia’s leading family law firm, Unified Lawyers.

Alex’s passion for Family Law comes from being able to guide people through a separation and help them through, what is often their most difficult and stressful period of their life. Alex has seen first hand what separation does to families, and has refined his skills to be able to guide people to a fair and equitable outcome.

While studying at University, Alex began sharpening his legal skills by working at a local Community Legal Centre, helping the vulnerable with his knowledge and guidance with their legal issues. This work with the vulnerable influenced his initial work, where he began working with primarily legal aided clients in rural NSW. This work enabled him to litigate regularly in the Family Court of Australia (as it was), for client’s that were in need of the most protection. Alex would work tirelessly on their cases to get the best possible outcome, while dealing with some of the worst cases in NSW.

When Alex moved to Sydney, he continued his specialisation in Family Law, culminating in Alex obtaining his Specialist Accreditation in Family law in 2022. Alex obtained his Specialist Accreditation on the first available opportunity and succeeded where 75% failed. Alex has used the specialist skill set in Family law to obtain a reputation of successfully dealing with complex Parenting matters, high net wealth clients and difficult property litigation.

Alex is able to use his sharp mind and vast knowledge to enable the client to get this best result for the client, and enable the client to obtain a result that will help them move on. Alex has direct contact with the best Barristers in Australia, which enables them to be available for his clients.

While Alex is regularly in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia advocating on client’s behalf, including in the Appeal Division, Alex is equally passionate about settling matters before they litigate. Alex has appeared in a significant amount of meditations and arbitration for his clients, often obtaining results that are just and equitable.
