A man represented by Mr Faraj was charged with the following offences by police: 1. Affray 2. 3. Assault police officer in execution of duty Resist police/hinder police/incite another to assault/resist/ hinder police The evidence before the court was his version of events, against the versions of 5 police officers who were present at the scene. Mr Faraj’s client entered a plea of not guilty to the charges and denied being involved in any of the alleged offences. The police proceeded to charge him and the matter proceeded to a defended hearing whereby five police officers had made claims that the man assaulted them. Mr Faraj then cross-examined each of the officers and without them realising it, they all gave inconsistent counts of what happened regarding the man’s conduct.In closing submissions, Mr Faraj outlined over 17 inconsistencies between the evidence of the police officers and took the court though the prosecution case, undermining the evidence brought on against his client. The court agreed that in the circumstances, the evidence of all police officers could not be accepted beyond a reasonable doubt and therefore, he was found not guilty of all charges.

A Victorian man, 23 years of age was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death. As a result of the accident, his little brother passed away. The police attended the hospital where the main was being treated for serious physical injuries an dealing with the loss of his brother and laid criminal charges against him, also denying him bail and wishing to take him into custody. The man was able to grieve and be with his family during this tough time as opposed to being in police custody.
